Uchechi represents corporate debtors, creditor groups, distressed borrowers, private equity sponsors, and institutional investors in complex restructuring matters. 

Uchechi has played a key role in many of the most high-profile and complex restructurings over the last decade, including, Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Ultra Petroleum, Neiman Marcus, EXCO Resources, Purdue Pharma, Legacy Reserves, Pier 1 Imports, EdgeMarc Energy, Takata Corporation, Orexigen Therapeutics, Aralez Pharmaceuticals, and Vewd Software AS.

Uchechi has been widely recognized for her work with the following distinctions: IFLR1000 Rising Star for Restructuring and Insolvency, New York Law Journal Rising Star, Corporate Counsel Women of Color NextGen Emerging Leader, American Bankruptcy Institute “40 Under 40,” American Bar Association “On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyer,” and The Best Lawyers in America “One to Watch.”

Before joining Hogan Lovells, Uchechi practiced at leading international law firms in New York. Uchechi also clerked for the Honorable William T. Thurman of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah.

Uchechi is an active speaker and thought leader on restructuring and insolvency topics, frequently presenting at national conferences and industry programs.

Represents the City of Los Angeles in the Oceanwide Plaza “Graffiti Towers” case, the largest pending chapter 11 case in Central District of California.

Represents KS Mattson Partners, LP as debtor in its chapter 11 case pending in the Northern District of California.

Represented the Ad Hoc Group of Lenders in the chapter 11 cases of ION Geophysical Corporation.*

Represented Vewd Software AS and certain affiliates in connection with their chapter 11 cases.*

Represented the buyer in a contested sale of assets in the chapter 11 cases of Limetree Bay Energy.*

Represented Rockefeller University Hospital in the chapter 11 cases of Madison Square Boys & Girls Club Inc.*

Represented amici curiae law professors in connection with their submission to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in the Purdue Pharma chapter 11 cases.*

Represented the Ad Hoc Group of Term Loan Lenders and Agent in the chapter 11 cases of Pier 1 Imports Inc.*

Represented the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Chesapeake Energy Corporation.*
