The EU’s Foreign Subsidies Regulation, A blessing or a curse?

The Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR), enacted by the European Union (EU) in 2023, gave many European companies the hope that it would allow them to compete on a level playing field against non-EU companies benefitting from unfair subsidies. This article, originally published in EURObiz magazine’s March/April 2024 issue, takes stock of and reviews the 1st 100 days of FSR enforcement, and what it means for companies doing business in China.
